Why They Say They Stay

New research from Career Systems International and the Jordan Evans Group, finds that pay is not the most important factor in determining whether an employee stays with an organization. In fact, Fair Pay has moved from fourth place in earlier research to sixth place in this 2014 report.

The 2014 “What Keeps You” white paper reports that certain stay factors have clearly and consistently surfaced as the top drivers of engaging and retaining talent. These factors are largely the same today, as they were amid both recessions and at the peak of the tight labor market in 2000. The white paper also reveals some subtle differences among the demographic groups. For instance, Supportive Management/ Great Boss ranks #2 or #3 for all age groups except for those under 25. And Exciting, Challenging and Meaningful Work is ranked #1 for men and women. The white paper breaks down the 13 stay factors by a variety of demographic variables, including age, gender, job function, job level and industry. This information can guide organizational efforts to engage and retain talent.

Big Learnings....Small Doses

The way we learn and the way we deliver training has changed over the years. Five-day, instructor-led workshops are being replaced by or supplemented with short, “chunked” training sessions, just-in-time content and tools. Whether you call it micro, mini, or bite-sized, it’s here to stay.

Career Systems International (CSI) knows that it’s no longer a one-size-fits-all approach. A comprehensive learning solution is still best for shifting cultures and changing the way people talk, share, practice, and learn.  However, some learners and cultures demand something different … whether they’re short learning experiences or just-in-time access to content, tips and tools. CSI offers multiple approaches.

Meet the CSI Team

Patti Hillman, Vice President of Client Success

I began working with CSI in 2003 and became an official employee in 2007. Since joining CSI, I’ve worn many hats and continue to do so today. In my role as the Vice President of Client Success, I collaborate with our sales team around discovering and meeting our clients’ needs, preparing proposals, and managing solution implementations. I frequently serve as a liaison between our clients and our CSI support resources, ensuring Client Success – aiming to delight our clients with every interaction; from answering a quick question to supporting a global training initiative. I’ve often been described as “air traffic control” for the organization. As a goal-oriented “people person,” I enjoy collaborating with my incredible CSI team and our clients to bring a project from an early discussion stages to a full implementation and then smiling when I see satisfied clients enjoying measurable results.
